It’s just me today. No pictures today.

My son, Mason, started preschool yesterday. I don’t know how to feel about that. I am excited he is gone for a couple of hours everyday ,5 hours to be exact, but sad that he is growing up. Not to mention the crimp that puts on my traveling. I’m sure it will be good for him as he is rather attached to me. I know! Hard to believe that he would become attached to his mother, best friend, playmate… I find myself not knowing what to do with myself. I keep checking the clock because I don’t have the tv on so I’m not real sure what time it actually. I’m sure one of these days I’ll be tuning in at 10:30 to watch Word World just because I miss it. Guaranteed that won’t be today. I also didn’t realize how long 5 hours actually is… I’ve done everything today that I usually don’t have done until 1 or so and it is only 10:20… I’m sure I can find something to fill my time so don’t worry!

I just thought I would complain a little today. Seeing as how no one wants to listen to me complain I thought ‘oh, but they’ll read it…’. I am sure I am not alone in feeling this way and no that doesn’t mean it is time for #2!

I grew up very near Sidney Iowa also better known as Rodeo Town USA… I try to go every year even though it is bound to be hot. As in OMG-what-I-wouldn’t-do-for-some-snow-right-now-HOT! Mason really enjoyed the rodeo this year which I was happy to see. Unfortuntely he is still on a camera strike. So there are no photos of him. Well there are but they are of the back of his head or of his profile. I love him to pieces but I can’t wait until he is over this phase!

Here are just a couple of the photos I took that night…

Every year during grand entry they honor the soliders who have served, are serving, have fallen and on this night those local soldiers who have recently come home. These men deserve so much more than the few seconds of applause they receive.

I LOVE when the rodeo clowns look right at my camera!!

I still can’t believe anyone would willingly get on the back of a crazy bull! I have no clue how these bull riders walk the next day. I had problems and all I did was sit in the stands.

I’m not real sure who’s idea it was to bring in the motorcycle jumpers… But I guess they were entertaining if you are into that sort of thing. Personally I would rather have seen more bull riding…

I am praying my son never wants to try either of these sports out… I’m thinking a nice quiet sport… like baseball… or better yet, chess…

Sunday my husband and I were outside cleaning up around the property. I think it is safe to say that I don’t like to get dirty with any substance that I don’t know what it is. Cleaning up around the property always involves touching dirty things. Dirty things that have been sitting where they lay for a really long time are always covered with more than just dirt. So, while he was picking up around the corn crib I decided to cut down some trumpet vine from around the well house. Trumpet vine is a weed in my book! Those seed pods it puts off in the fall end up everywhere and I have as yet to find a way to kill it. While cutting down the trumpet vine I had to cut down the decorative grass that the trumpet vine is trying to take over. I get to the very back of the patch right next to the well house and see this stock panel just covered in these cute little jumpy grasshoppers. I don’t know about you but photographing grasshoppers sounds like so much more fun than getting all sweaty cutting weeds.

Unfortunately after taking photos I had to get back to work. Somedays I wish we lived in town so we didn’t have to keep up with such a huge property but then I realize that if we lived in town my husband would spend a lot more time inside. Needless to say I absolutely love living in the country!
